What were the biggest scientific breakthroughs of 2018? What scientific discoveries will 2019 bring? The most important regenerative medicine developments will be discussed by Prof. Rui Reis, Director of 3B's Research Group and Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation at UMinho, in Admirável Mundo Novo at Jornal da Noite, SIC television.

Rui L. Reis, Director of 3B's Research Group - Institute of Research in Biomaterials, Biomimetics and Biodegradables (I3Bs) of University of Minho, was distinguished on the 15th of November 2018 with the title of doctor honoris causa by the Universitatea POLITEHNICA din București (UPB), Romania. The ceremony took place at the Senate Hall of UPB, with the presence of several relevant invitees, including the Rector of UMinho, Prof. Rui Vieira de Castro.

A Universidade do Minho homologou a 5 de março de 2018 os estatutos da sua primeira unidade orgânica centrada na investigação, o I3Bs - Instituto de Investigação em Biomateriais, Biodegradáveis e Biomiméticos. A cerimónia pública de homologação desta nova unidade foi pelas 14h45, no auditório do edifício onde funcionará o I3Bs, no Avepark, em Guimarães. A sessão contou com o vice-reitor para a Investigação e Inovação e diretor do Grupo 3B’s, Rui L.
