Third Forecast Workshop and TERM STEM 2021

Third Forecast Workshop

“Hallmarks in cancer and the development of diagnostic tools”
Hotel Vila Galé, Braga, Portugal
14 | 16 June 2021

The majority of the in vitro models only involve a single tumour cell population, which represents a small fraction of the tumour development and integrative cell network. Therefore, a new dimension in cancer research has to be developed: the 3D microenvironment. Thus, the FoReCaST project intend to create in vitro 3D cancer study models, which will copycat the complexity and hierarchically organization of natural ECM of tumour cells found in vivo. In this context, 3B’s-UMINHO will strategically use the knowledge gained during the last ~20years in the fields of biomaterials sciences and tissue engineering, and five new complementary research topics are being implemented to consolidate this new research topic within the following topics (Fig.1):

  • RL1 - Metabolic glycoengineering for tumour imaging;
  • RL2 - Bioinformatics;
  • RL3 - Cell engineering;
  • RL4 -  Nanotechnologies
  • RL5 - Cell signalling

TERM STEM 2021

Hotel Vila Galé Collection, Braga, Portugal
16 | 18 June 2021

This event consists of two back to back initiatives, the Third FoReCaST Workshop (14th|16th June 2021) and the TERM STEM 2021 (16th|18thJune 2021).
The first event, "Hallmarks in cancer and the development of diagnostic tools", is being organized in the scope of the European Union's Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation program, the project ERA-Chairs FoReCaST: “Forefront Research in 3D Disease Cancer Models as in vitro Screening Technologies” and will promote the interaction of highly skilled experts under this very relevant area of research.
The second event, TERM STEM 2021 is a part of a series of conferences organized yearly by the 3B’s Research Group since 2012 that intends to make a stand in the worldwide range of conferences in the field of Tissue Engineering, Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cells. TERM STEM 2021 will, as usually, gather world scientific leaders to discuss the latest research evolutions in the field. In both cases will have also some speakers and attendees online, creating an hybrid event.
