The program will be composed by four parts: (i) a comprehensive presentation on bibliometrics and publishing strategy in TE&RM (ii) oral presentations on the topic “Stem cells and biological aspects in regenerative medicine”; (iii) oral presentations on the topic “Biomaterials and constructs in tissue engineering”; (iv) two plenary presentations from international speakers.
Dear Colleagues,
It is our great pleasure to invite you to attend the 9th International Symposium on Frontiers in Biomedical Polymers, which will be held at the CS Madeira Atlantic Resort & Sea SPA in Funchal, Madeira, one of the most beautiful islands of Portugal. The symposium series was started in 1995, and is held every other year, in different places. The aim of the Symposia is to bring together scientists in both basic and applied biomedical polymer research. Active participation from both academy, industry and clinical centers is encouraged.
In honour of Prof. Emo Chiellini and his contributions to the field of Biomedical Polymers.
If you have a keynote lecture, please be aware that your presentation must have the duration of 25 minutes plus 5 minutes for discussion and questions from the audience. If you have a short oral presentation, please be aware that your presentation must have the duration of 12 minutes plus 3 minutes for discussion and questions from the audience. Please check the programme herein to verify the title of you work and the time. To guarantee that everything is ok, you must test your presentation in the PC available on the Conference Room on the day before you are scheduled to talk also guaranteeing you give the Organising Committee your presentation after the testing. There will be a responsible for the Presentations in the Organising Committee that will assist you on this.
If you are a poster presenter, we must inform you that your poster should have 1,20m high and 0,90m wide. There will not be a formal poster presentation during the poster sessions that will be carried our during all the coffee breaks; you just need to stay next to your poster and available for answering questions and discussing scientific details with participants and/or invited speakers wishing to do so. These sessions are quite informal to allow interaction between participants and are accompanied with food and drinks. You must hang your poster as soon as you register in the placard corresponding to your poster code. The placards will be located in the coffee-break area next to the conference room (Room Selvagens III).

Best Lecture Competion IoM3 - Portugal
Esta competição tem por objectivo seleccionar o melhor palestrante que irá representar Portugal, na competição internacional a ter lugar na Malásia, numa das seguintes áreas: materiais, minerais e tecnologias mineiras.
The SPCE-TC is organizing its 5th Annual International Meeting. This society was created in 2004 and congregates Portuguese scientists working overseas and in several Portuguese scientific institutions and companies. Its main aim is to promote the discussion of different subjects such as the future of stem cells research, potentialities of some findings for posterior clinical applications, ethical and legal problems and to encourage cooperative research between scientists with different backgrounds.
The 5th Annual International Meeting (www.spce-tc.org) is designed to examine some of the newest concepts, technical approaches, and recent findings related to the topic of stem cells and cellular therapies. The “state of the art” of many aspects of stem and cell therapy research will be discussed. The meeting will include oral and poster sessions, round table discussions and keynote lectures. Many current topics in this interdisciplinary area of research will be highlighted through several keynote lectures given by world recognized scientists.
Keynote Speakers already confirmed:
Discussion Forum on Stem Cells Banking, with the presence of companies providing cryopreservation services in Portugal.
The program will also count with short oral communications from abstracts submitted to the conference.
CRIOESTAMINAL AWARD FOR BEST ORAL PRESENTATION
Crioestaminal, S.A., has decided to join this event as main sponsor and, as in previous editions, also attributting an award for the best oral presentation. All presentations will be evaluated by a committee of experts and the best work author will be given an award of 300 Euros and an additional gift offered by Crioestaminal.
The event will be held in AvePark, Caldas das Taipas, Guimarães, Portugal (www.avepark.pt), the technological park that is home to the 3B's Research Group facilities. All sessions will be held in the main auditorium of the central building of the park.
