Name:
Automated Peptide Synthesizer
Model:
CS136XT
Room location:
Chemistry Lab I
Description:
The CS136XT synthesizer is a fully automated peptide synthesizer that can be set up once and run all day or overnight without additional intervention. The CS136XT can prepare custom peptides of 3-50 amino acids in length for research purposes (self-assembling peptide materials, bioactive peptides or cell adhesion peptides to elucidate potential biological interactions using cell-based assays; receptor-ligand interaction/binding studies; antibody epitopes for immunoassays, etc). In addition to solid phase peptide synthesis, the system also allows other organic synthesis reactions.
This Automated Peptide Synthesizer is comprised of a synthesizer box and computer with CSPEP software to allow the user complete automated control of the synthesizer.
General Specifications
Synthetic strategy: The CS136XT allows Fmoc, t-Boc or any other peptide chemistry using commercially available resins (e.g. Rink MBHA, Cl-Trt-Cl, Wang or preloaded resins) and coupling reagents (HBTU/HOBT, DIEA/DIC);
Variable synthesis scale: The CS136XT has interchangeable reaction vessels (50 mL, 90 mL and 200 mL) for synthesis scale of 0.25 mmol to 5.0 mmol;
The software contains pre-programmed optimized standard protocols for Fmoc chemistry (resin pre-swelling, washing, Fmoc deprotection, single or double couplings, capping with acetic anhydride, resin cleavage) permitting the easy creation of custom protocols;
Inert environment and liquid delivery: All liquids are transferred under nitrogen pressure from any solvent or reagent container. This creates a completely inert atmosphere that is maintained by Nitrogen and allows for chemistry that utilizes air or water sensitive reagents.
Mixing: The CS136XT utilizes inversion and nitrogen bubbling for efficient, thorough mixing.
22 amino acid reservoir (50 mL); 1 solvent reservoir (5 L), 4 solvent reservoir (2 L), 3 solvent reservoir (2 L), 1 solvent reservoir (500 mL), 2 metering vessels (75 mL), 2 transfer vessels (75 mL);
A self diagnostic program and multiple sensors ensure proper performance (Nitrogen and solvent detection systems prevent operation in absence of reagents) while the software provides a permanent record of each synthesis.
