Abstract

The absence of therapies that translate into a functional recovery from ALS, or at least cease the disease progression, lead to a diverse range of approaches to overcome this pathology, ranging from gene therapy to tissue engineering (TE) strategies. TE is appealing since it combines several approaches to simultaneously tackle the diversified events of ALS and/or promote neural repair. Herein, we will discuss the recent advanced therapies involving the development of injectable natural based hydrogels, carrying nanoparticles loaded with relevant growth factors and stem/progenitor cells, for ALS applications.
